James Trower is a motivational speaker and peak performance life coach who has inspired and touched the lives of thousands of people of all ages around the country. James took a mess of a life and turned it into a message of hope, healing, and inspiration. Coach James is driven by his one definite major purpose, and that is to help others expand their thinking to embrace the growth mindset in order to challenge their old limiting beliefs which may be holding them back from living their worthy ideal.
As a former junior college basketball coach at Brown Mackie JC of Salina, KS James had the honor of coaching Eddie Robinson aka The Phenom formerly of the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls. James also had the great privilege of coaching alongside and learning from one of the greats NJCAA Hall of Fame Coach Francis Flax who by the way gave James his first coaching opportunity. With the coaching savvy of Francis Flax and inspiration & motivation of Coach James they took Brown Mackie with mostly second chance inner-city kids from around the country to three consecutive NJCAA DII National Tournament appearances in the late ’90s, and in 1999 won the schools first ever national title.
While growing up in the New York City foster care system, James had no role models to guide him in the right direction, no one to protect him from abuse, or to comfort him in his darkest hours. It wasn't until he got to high school where James met a teacher who saved his life. James left the rough streets of Brooklyn one year after graduating from high school and used the military as his way out.
Even with the inspiration of his former high school teacher James still had to deal with his inner demons which led him down the dark path of drug and alcohol abuse for decades. Fortunately the seeds planted by his former teacher always stayed with him and eventually they took root and blossomed and James got his act together, took control of his mind, and in doing so, took control of his life.
James taught public high school for 15 + years in Houston Texas and helped to expand the thinking of thousand's of his students. While never receiving teacher of the year honors in those 15 year, an award chosen by other teachers James did however receive an even more prestigious award, 'most inspirational teacher', an award chosen by the student body and James was chosen for this award ten years in a row.
James live by his moto "Dare To Be Great, Dare To Dream Big!"
